Vera Maheu started with the Dunlap Highland Band in the summer of 2008 after seeing the band in her home town parade. She knew absolutely nothing about bagpipes, but thought it would be fun to learn. She was also thrilled to learn that the band does indeed take French Canadian chicks (not one bit of Scottish ancestry here folks!). Vera currently serves as the DHB Secretary, and has been enjoying every minute of her time with the band.

We welcome pipers and drummers of all ages and abilities to become members of the Dunlap Highland Band. Whether you are experienced or just have the desire to learn, we invite one and all to stop by one of our practices and check us or contact us at info@dunlaphighlandband.com. At each practice we have experienced members who are there to assist and guide new students in the steps needed to become an active performing member of the band. Lessons during the practices are free. Private tutoring is also offered by some of our senior members on a personal basis.
